Hand Regeneration & Rejuvenation
Your hands see constant exposure to sunlight, washing, chemicals, and day-to-day activity. Over time, the skin loses collagen, elastin, hydration and volume. Veins and tendons may become more prominent, skin texture can become thin, crepey, and pigmented. Aesthetic ageing of the hands often becomes one of the most visible signs of time.
At Dr Fiona Steedman Aesthetics, our regenerative hand treatments are designed to restore youthful volume, improve skin quality, and truly regenerate the tissue rather than merely mask surface signs.
Results & Expectations
| Metric | What You May Notice | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Skin Texture / Smoothness | Finer lines soften, crepey quality improves | 2–4 weeks |
| Hydration / Plumpness | Dermal hydration increases, skin feels more supple | 4–8 weeks |
| Skin Tone / Pigmentation | Pigmentation may lighten (if adjunctive laser/IPL used) | Over 1–3 sessions |
| Structural Integrity | Stronger dermal scaffolding, more longevity | Over months |
| Vein / Tendon Softening | With volume + regeneration, prominence is reduced | — |
What is Plinest?
Plinest is a polynucleotide (PN-HPT®) injectable, formulated from purified DNA molecules (often derived from trout) that act as bio-activators for tissue repair and regeneration. Unlike dermal fillers (which primarily add volume) or toxins (which relax muscles), Plinest works at a cellular level to stimulate fibroblast activation, collagen and elastin synthesis, improve microcirculation, and support dermal hydration and repair.
How Plinest™ works in the hands:
Improves skin quality: smoother texture, finer lines
Supports dermal structure: reinforcing thinning skin
Enhances hydration: deeply retain moisture in the dermis
Promotes long-term regeneration: encouraging ongoing tissue repair
Plinest is now used in many aesthetic clinics for skin quality work on face, neck, décolletage-and is increasingly being applied to the hands.
During your consultation, I will review your medical history, medications, allergies, and facial anatomy to confirm suitability.
Our Regenerative Approach
We believe the best outcomes come from bioremodelling / regenerative therapies.
By harnessing regenerative agents that stimulate fibroblasts, collagen, elastin and microcirculation, we aim for longer-lasting, natural hand rejuvenation.
The standout tools in our toolkit are Plinest™and Profhilo™
What is Profhilo™?
Profhilo is a unique injectable treatment containing one of the highest concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid (HA) available. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, it does not add artificial volume or alter the shape of your hands. Instead, Profhilo acts as a bio-remodeller, spreading evenly beneath the skin to hydrate deeply and stimulate the body’s own production of collagen and elastin.
This dual-action effect- hydration and biostimulation-makes Profhilo an ideal choice for skin laxity and textural ageing on the hands.
How Profhilo™ Works on the Hands
When injected into the back of the hands, Profhilo:
Improves skin firmness and elasticity by stimulating new collagen and elastin fibres
Deeply hydrates the skin for a healthy, dewy appearance
Smooths fine lines and crepiness without adding bulk
Enhances skin tone and texture, reducing dullness or “paper-thin” appearance
Supports long-term regeneration, strengthening the dermal matrix over time
The treatment uses Profhilo’s patented NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology, which combines high and low molecular weight HA for optimal diffusion and lasting bioremodelling.

Our Hand Regeneration Treatments
Consultation & Assessment
We begin with a detailed hand skin analysis-assessing thinness, pigmentation, vein prominence, skin laxity, volume loss, and prior treatments or medical history. This guides a bespoke protocol.
Plinest Regenerative Sessions
We deliver Plinest via ultra-fine microinjections onto the dorsum of the hands (and hands’ side surfaces if needed), placed into the superficial dermis.
Treatment is performed over a series (typically 3 sessions, spaced 2–4 weeks apart), depending on skin condition.
This encourages collagenogenesis, elastin formation, microvascular improvement and long-term skin renewal.
Profhilo Bioremodelling Sessions
A typical Profhilo Hand Rejuvenation course includes:
2 treatment sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart
Each session involves a series of micro-injections across the dorsum of the hands
Minimal discomfort or downtime — most patients return to normal activities the same day
Results begin to appear after 2–3 weeks and continue to improve over the following months
Maintenance & Aftercare
After completing the initial course, we recommend maintenance boosters every 6-12 months depending on skin response and lifestyle.
Post-treatment care includes gentle skincare, sun protection, and guidance on avoiding irritants in early recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Plinest and Profhilo for hands?
Plinest is a polynucleotide-based injectable designed to stimulate fibroblast activity, collagen and elastin production, and tissue repair. It helps to regenerate the skin structure from within, improving thickness, texture and overall resilience.
Profhilo, on the other hand, is a bio-remodelling hyaluronic acid treatment that intensely hydrates the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. It improves elasticity, hydration and firmness.
When used together or sequentially, they create a powerful synergistic effect:
- Plinest rebuilds the dermal matrix (regeneration)
- Profhilo rehydrates and remodels the skin (bio-stimulation)
How many sessions will I need?
- Plinest: Typically 3 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6-12 months.
- Profhilo: Usually 2 sessions one month apart, with maintenance every 6 months.
Your treatment plan will be fully customised depending on your skin condition and goals.
How long do the results last?
Results from both Plinest and Profhilo gradually appear within 2-6 weeks, and may last 6-12 months depending on your skin health, lifestyle and sun exposure. Regular maintenance keeps results optimal and cumulative over time.
What improvements can I expect?
Most patients notice:
- Smoother, firmer, more hydrated skin
- Softer fine lines and crepiness
- Less visible veins and tendons (when volume is restored)
- Healthier, more even skin tone and glow
- Hands that look subtly younger and more refreshed
Are there any side effects or downtime?
Both treatments are minimally invasive with little downtime.
You may experience mild redness, swelling, or tiny injection marks for 24-48 hours. Bruising is uncommon and easily covered.
Avoid harsh chemicals, saunas, and heavy exercise for 24 hours post-treatment. Full aftercare guidance will be provided.
Are Plinest and Profhilo safe?
Yes -Plinest uses purified polynucleotides that are biocompatible and rigorously tested. However, it’s derived from fish DNA, so it’s not suitable for people with fish or salmon allergies. Profhilo, being hyaluronic acid-based, carries no such restriction.
Both products have strong clinical safety records when administered by qualified medical professionals.
How much do hand regeneration treatments cost?
Treatment cost varies depending on the number of sessions and whether we combine Plinest and Profhilo.
A full quotation is given after your consultation, once your bespoke treatment plan is confirmed.
Can I combine Plinest or Profhilo with other treatments?
Absolutely. These can be combined with complementary rejuvenation techniques such as Microneedling with SkinPen or Laser.
Combination therapy allows us to target hydration, texture, pigment, and volume simultaneously for the most natural, long-lasting outcome.
When should I start hand regeneration treatments?
Ideally, you should start before significant thinning or pigmentation occurs. Early intervention supports long-term collagen maintenance and can delay visible signs of ageing.
However, both Plinest and Profhilo can produce impressive improvements even in mature or sun-damaged hands.
