BotoxTM: A Targeted Solution for Excessive Sweating

What Is Hyperhidrosis/Excessive Sweating?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what the body needs to regulate temperature. It can affect specific areas such as the underarms (axillae), palms, feet, face, scalp, or even other localised zones. This kind of sweating can interfere with daily life, causing discomfort, self-consciousness, and practical inconveniences in work, social, or intimate settings.

There are two broad types:

Primary (idiopathic) hyperhidrosis - sweating without an obvious underlying cause

Secondary hyperhidrosis - excessive sweating linked to another medical condition (e.g. thyroid disorder, menopause, medications)

Before any treatment, we always assess for potential underlying causes to ensure we’re treating the right condition.

How Botox Works for Hyperhidrosis

BotoxTM offers an effective, minimally invasive way to reduce sweating in targeted areas. Here’s how:

Botox blocks the nerve signals (acetylcholine release) that trigger sweat glands to produce sweat.

By interrupting this signalling, the sweat glands are temporarily inhibited from producing excess sweat.

The effect is localised-only the treated areas are affected: normal sweating elsewhere continues as needed for temperature regulation.

Studies show significant reductions in sweat production and severity when compared with placebo by up to 80%-90%.

Treatment Areas We Can Address

At our clinic, we currently only treat Underarms (Axillary Hyperhidrosis)- the only area currently with formal regulatory approval in many settings.
